RECAP---I came across this amazing tool this summer while researching methods to help students with fluency in 2nd languages. It is super easy to set up and create. The students LOVE it….in fact, they can’t get enough of it. It works with all levels. I use it with my 4th graders, kinders, and even my college students.
How it works: You pose a question, comment, or whatever to the kids. You can record yourself saying this to the kids (which they love), and they respond via phone, ipad, computer…recording their response.
What you get from it: you hear the students speaking, using oral language, fluency in reading (if you have them read a passage), sharing their home life with the class, really the ideas are endless.
Once they have responded, you can play them reel to reel for the class. You also can comment on each student video. They love the comments.
This is set up for your class only and they are the only ones that can see it.
Bonus: even the quiet kids love it. It gives them a chance to share their thoughts in a planned out way and not on the spot. A couple of my kids this year, have written out their response and just videoed the response. For one super shy kiddo, I recorded with her the 1st time.
Overall, RECAP is great! Give it a try! You will love it!
Hungry Hippos Math Review:
Not rocket science or even techy here, (well, maybe the video I took) but a highly engaging way to get your kiddos reviewing math, moving and having fun.
